An example of E-commerce Success and Its Causes

An example of E-commerce is eBay. eBay is a global marketplace which is an online auction Web site. It is a place where anyone around the world can trade almost anything under the sun. The founder of eBay is Pierre Omidyar who is a French-born Iranian computer programmer. eBay was launched in September 1995. Initially eBay was a place for trading collectibles and hard-to-find items for individuals. However, today eBay is the world’s largest online community for both buyers and sellers. eBay has 38 markets including the US and has over 241 millions users worldwide who registered to eBay.

There are a few reasons that contribute to eBay’s success. First and foremost reason is people around the world enjoy the experience of shopping bazaar. People enjoy looking around for goods and services. In other words, they enjoy hunting for merchandise. Besides, people also enjoy the bidding process which is one of the factors for its success. eBay provides platform for a competition for people to bid and bargain. So as time pass by, eBay has become a place to buy and sell merchandise.

Buyers and sellers around the world are brought together where the sellers can sell their listed goods or items and the buyers can purchase the listed goods or items. The buyers are allowed to bid on the goods or items in an automated way. To make things easier and convenient, the goods or items are arranged in such a manner where the items are arranged by topics.

It is said that eBay often allows people to connect to their childhood memories or even experience. People could collect anything from Toy Story soldiers to Barbie dolls. This allows people to recollect their early memories of their childhood or youth. This is one of the factors that also causes eBay to be successful.

Just as said that eBay has contributed to its success and the impact can be seen in today’s world especially where basically technology has become dominant world wide.
